WHAT TO EXPECT
Arrival
For our Day Trips many clients prefer to arrive at The Lakes of Danbury the evening prior to the reserved trip. This allows them ample time to meet our staff, rest, and prepare for the following day. Upon your arrival, we familiarize you with the complex and the itinerary for the next day. Our Corporate Outing customers should arrive one hour before.
Orientation
All of our guests are required to attend an 20 minute orientation session, which will cover the following areas:
- Catch & Release Program
- Tackle and Lures
- Itinerary and format for the day
- Boat and Equipment
Meals (Day Trips)
For your morning meal, we serve an on-site continental breakfast. For lunch, your guide will usually accompany you to a nearby restaurant. We will provide you with a menu in advance so that you can place your order through your guide. In some cases - especially when groups are larger, the lunch meal is catered on site. Evening meals are arranged according to the package type. If Self-Guided, breakfast and lunch are not provided
Alcoholic Beverages
As a result of recent Texas State legislation that holds serving establishments liable for the sobriety of its patrons, The Lakes of Danbury does not provide alcoholic beverages at our facilities. However guests are allowed to furnish their own alcoholic beverages - but not in our boats.
Fishing Licenses
You do not need a fishing license to fish our facility
Guides
To insure consistency of quality in our Sportfishing Day Trips, all our initial trips are guided. It is the responsibility of our guides to insure that you have an enjoyable and successful trip; they will accompany you throughout the tenure of your trip.
Trophy Fish & Taxidermy
If you catch a fish that is worthy of mounting, our guides will assist you in properly measuring and weighing the fish. This will give you the necessary information for preparation of a fiberglass replica; and will insure the proper release and survival of our trophy fish. We can make arrangements to have your fish mounted and shipped to you.
Boats and Boating Equipment
One boat is furnished per each two (2) fishermen. The boats are fully equipped with troll motors, and other necessities for the bass fisherman. Each lake is outfitted with its own boats.
Lures
Guests are responsible for bringing their own fishing lures. Upon confirmation of your trip, we will prepare a "Bait List" for the lures you should purchase for your trip. All lures will be barbless. Our guides and assistants will inspect tackle before fishing begins and can assist you in any way
Fishing Tackle
Our fish will tear up light equipment, so we recommend you bring 6' to 7' graphite rods, with medium to heavy action. Equip your rods with heavy duty bait cast reels, and spool your reels with a minimum of 17# test line. It would be a good idea to bring extra fishing line.
Weather
Due to its proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, The Lakes of Danbury enjoys a "true Southern" climate throughout most of the year. Daily temperatures in the 70s to 90s prevail from March thru October. July and August are the hottest months with day time temperatures reaching in the high 90s, and night temperatures ranging from the 60s to the 80s. From November through February daily temperatures range from the 40s to the 70s; night time temperatures can dip below freezing.
Layered clothing is recommended so you can remove or put on more clothes as the weather changes - and it does change frequently, in Texas. It would be wise to bring a parka or full rain suit as occasional showers are characteristic to the region.
Tips And Gratuity
Our guides are paid on a per trip basis. Tips are certainly welcomed, especially if the guide goes beyond the call of duty.
