DECEMBER 2001

LAKE LINES Members, I must admit that this past year has been the longest year of my life, but also one of the most fulfilled. It has taken a toll on both my mental and physical health with only four days off this year. Therefore, if I have seemed short-tempered with anyone, please accept my humble apologies. After the Christmas break, I hope to return with renewed vigor and enthusiasm. My goal is still to make The Lakes of Danbury the best bass fishing club in the country. It will take your cooperation, understanding, and patience to make this happen. This will not happen without new members, so again I ask you to help by bringing prospective members and guests. We have been adding forage to all of our lakes. I have leased 30 plus acres of water and I may have to lease more to make our bass fat and healthy. Besides raising fish, I have also purchased some from Danbury Fish Farm and also Arkansas. As you all know, I have had to make a few rule changes. A club, such as ours, will not work without guidelines to go by. Please support me with these changes. We have excellent fishing in the winter months but be prepared. Bring you coats and rain gear and dont forget that thermos of hot coffee. Again, thank you all for your help during this past year and each of you have a joyous holiday season. See you fishin ! Kirby, the son of Gary Alford caught this nice bass in Lake Leona. Great job!! |
DOTS DATA Another year has come and gone. It has been a year we will all never forget and the events of September 11th will forever be with us. It has made me so much more humble and thankful. I hope you all have enjoyed the newsletters that I have written. I am working on a new look for the New Year. I havent made a decision yet, but I may only publish four a year - winter, spring, summer, and fall - instead of six per year. I hope that you have all seen many changes this past year at the lakes. We have put much of our efforts into making The Lakes a place where families, friends, and business associates can enjoy, relax and have fun. If anyone has any suggestions or changes for The Lakes, please email me at jim@lakesofdanbury.com. Also, I am sure that you all have notice the new cabin being constructed near Little Luke Lake. It is two bedrooms with a small kitchen, bath, and living area with central air and heat. The interior will be all pine with a cathedral ceiling. It is being constructed by Dennis and Jack Tyson of A-1 Remodeling. They are working on it part-time so we will all have to be patient but we have had so much rain that it has caused many delays. They also built the new pavilion and pole barn. Our thanks to Dennis and Jack for a job well done. They can be reached at 979-798-1211. I am looking forward to another great year with all my friends at The Lakes of Danbury. Health and happiness to you all. |
